2023 Unplugged: My Life, Laughs, and Lessons

Today, as I was returning to my home in New Delhi from my hometown in Uttar Pradesh (UP), a thought struck me. I've decided to start writing personal articles where I can share my opinions and snippets of my personal life. Yes, this is a new endeavor for me, as those who know me are aware that I usually keep my personal life private. I rarely post selfies on Instagram or any other social media platforms.
Interestingly, I'm aware that most people, maybe 99%, might not find my life or opinions particularly engaging, as they may seem mundane to many. I often shared insights on various topics with my friends and college mates, only to realize that not everyone is interested in such discussions. They preferred to relax their minds, and even my close friends grew tired of my talks about legends, investing, and provocative ideas.
While traveling today, I watched "12th Fail," a heart-touching movie that made me cry. It's been a long time since a film moved me to tears. The story, about dreams, hardships, hope, and love, reminded me a bit of "The Alchemist," my favorite fiction book that offers profound life lessons. After watching this movie, I got an idea of writing these types of articles.
Reflecting on 2023
If I had to describe 2023 in one word, it would be 'fascinating.' This year marked significant growth for me emotionally, intellectually, and financially. I used to view myself as someone solely focused on money, but I've come to realize the importance of close relationships. Good people truly enhance our lives.
2023 was the year that made me realize my difficulty in letting people go. I find it hard to imagine life without those I care about. It's challenging when the feelings aren't reciprocated, but I've concluded that it's okay. Love, in my view, is about giving unconditionally, whether it's universal love or within a romantic relationship. If the love isn't returned by the same person, I believe it eventually comes back to you from different person, akin to karma.
This year, I embraced my uniqueness. My daily routine, interests, and work habits are quite distinct from the norm. For instance, I genuinely enjoy my job and feel happy going to the office. My days are filled with reading non-fiction books during my commute and indulging in number-crunching tasks at work.
On my way home, I often meet 'Chandler' (a fictional name, as I prefer to keep it personal). Chandler and I are polar opposites in many ways, yet we share a strong friendship. His sense of humor is unparalleled, even rivaling that of SRK (Shah Rukh Khan).
Speaking of SRK, I became a fan in 2023. I watched almost all his movies, though I enjoyed only about 27% of them. Despite the repetitive themes in his films and overacting in many of his early movies, I find SRK to be an inspirational figure.
Closing Thoughts
It's past midnight, and I'm feeling sleepy and tired. If you're still reading this, believe me, you deserve a trophy! Reading about my life isn't easy, and it takes courage to stick with it till the end, haha!
